Facebook is a social networking service launched in February 2004. Facebook was founded by Mark Zuckerberg with his college roommates and fellow students Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes. Facebook now has 1 billion active users on its site.
According to the statistics released by Facebook, it means that 1 out of every 7 people on the planet use the site each month. Even more impressive is that over half of those users are on mobile.
81% of active users are still located outside of the U.S. & Canada, and Facebook site still records the same number of active daily users at 552 million.
Given an impressive number like that, it makes plenty of sense that Zuckerberg had said a
couple days ago that Facebook sees more users accessing the mobile
website than through the iOS and Android apps combined. This means 600 million users access Facebook through a mobile device representing 60% of the total 1 billion active users, that's impressive!
