36.9 billion Online Videos Watched in US during July

This according to market research firm ComScore, found out that 184 million people watched a total of 36.9 billion online content videos in just one month.
Thus represents 85.5 % of US population with internet access. It was not surprising to see Youtube as the number one viewers’ choice, while it came as a surprise to see Facebook in the No. 2 spot. Vevo, the music channel and Microsoft come in fourth and fifth positions respectively.
“Video ads reached 52% of the total U.S. population an average of 61 times during the month,”, ComScore wrote in its report. Hulu had the highest number of video ads with an average of 46 per viewer, while ESPN delivered an average of 26 ads per view.
I hope one day, internet access in Nigeria will become affordable and grows to the extent of watching more online videos, because given the present rate of internet speed and cost, watching online video is still in “development”.
In coming days, I will be reviewing Nigeria’s internet atmosphere (in terms of cost, speed, access, etc) compared to South Africa, Ghana and some other African countries. Stay connected to this blog for more this and other tech news.
